Band: At the Drive-In

Album: Relationship of Command [Released September 12, 2000]

Genre: Post-Hardcore

Comments: Someone quoted this band as if Fugazi and Rage Against The Machine had a love child. I agree with that statement.

Song: Rock for Sustainable Capitalism

Band: Propagandhi

Album: Potemkin City Limits [Released October 18, 2005]

Comments: “Music’s power to describe, compel, renew. It’s all a distant second to the offers you can’t refuse. Anyone remember when we used to believe that music was a sacred place and not some fucking bank machine? Not something you just bought and sold?”

Song of the Week: 3/7/2025

Song: LeBron (Single Released February 18, 2025)

Band: A Day To Remember

Album: Big Ole Album Vol. 1 [Out on March 21, 2025]

Genre: Pop Punk

Summary:

Comments: I did NOT have any high hopes for this single going in. Not even shitting you when I hopped onto Spotify and saw Make it Make Sense and LeBron I made the biggest groan. In a way it's sad because A Day To Remember is one of my favorite bands, and after You're Welcome I was expect a YW part 2 and a slap in the face after the release of Feedback. BUT to my surprise LeBron gave me hope, and even though I didn't like Make It Make Sense too much it eventually grew on me. Those two songs are significantly better than anything on You're Welcome, so I'm quite hopeful but also warry of the new upcoming release. UPDATE: I bought the CD and listened to it thoroughly. It is genuinely an incredible album and I'm so happy ADTR is back.

Song of the Week: 3/14/2025

Song: At Peace (Single Released March 10, 2025)

Band: Propagandhi

Album: At Peace [Out on May 2, 2025]

Genre: Melodic Hardcore

Summary:

Comments: This is the 2nd time I shared a Propagandhi song, and ever since Potemkin City Limits, they kept pushing the envelope of what you can do with punk music. With their most recent single At Peace. Their music becomes harder and harder to categorize, which isn’t a dig on them at all, but an incredible evolution the band has taken over the past 30 years since How To Clean Everything. They continue to do so with their fusion of thrash metal into their punk rock sound to create very intricate and memorable riffs accompanied by Chris Hannah’s vocals and Propagandhi’s thoughtful and political lyricism.

Song of the Week: 3/21/2025

Song: Quit The Act

Band: SPY

Album: Seen Enough (EP) [Released February 21, 2025]

Genre: Hardcore

Summary:

Comments: I'll admit I am a bit biased as I'm a huge fan of SPY. I see them whenever they roll into the PNW, and I loved Satisfaction when it came out despite the criticisms. I still blast that album quite often, but I think with this EP in particular it hit a lot harder. Quit The Act is an absolute favorite of mine off this EP and I find it crazy to think that this released around the same time LeBron and Make it Make Sense by A Day To Remember. Quite a huge contrast in sound. Not remotely similar but two bands I both love.

Song of the Week: 3/28/2025

Song: Stand Ablaze

Band: In Flames

Album: Subterranean (EP) [Released June 15, 1995]

Genre: Melodic Death Metal

Summary:

Comments: I find it interesting that the creator of Bleach, Tite Kubo, featured the song Stand Ablaze as Aizen's theme in the manga, as well as the song Moonshield for Ulquiorra's theme. The man just has good taste in music. I mean damn News From The Front by Bad Religion is Ichigo's theme. Anyway, metalcore wouldn't be the way that it is without melodic death metal bands like At The Gates and In Flames. They incorporated the melodic elements of heavy metal and made it much more heavier yet still very beautiful. These elements would eventually inspire melodic metalcore bands such as Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, and All That Remains. Their influence should never be understated.

Song of the Week: 4/4/2025

Song: Transcendentium Part II: Fourth Temple

Band: Eidola

Album: To Speak, To Listen [Released June 2, 2017]

Genre: Experimental Post-Hardcore/Prog-Metal

Summary:

Comments: Nothing much to say other than this song has been an absolute earworm for the past 2 months.

Song of the Week: 4/11/2025

Song: X-Claim

Band: SS Decontrol

Album: Get It Away [Released May 1983]

Genre: Straight Edge Hardcore
